Westmoreland Splits With Lorain

It came down to the wire on Wednesday in game one of the doubleheader vs Lorain Community College, with Westmoreland taking victory on a dramatic walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning that sealed their victory over Lorain.  The Westmoreland trailed 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Logan Short singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.

The pitching was strong, and Travis Keister earned the victory on the hill for Westmoreland. Keister allowed seven hits and two runs over seven innings, while striking out ten.

Westmoreland scattered seven hits in the game.  Short and Joe Druga each managed multiple hits for the Wolfpack.  Druga and Short each collected two hits to lead Westmoreland.  Gavin Cancio, Ronnie Howard, and Kameron Pritts each recorded a hit a piece.

 

In game two Westmoreland stayed in until the end, but Lorain County Commuity College pulled away late in a 6-5 victory on Wednesday. The Wolfpack lost despite out-hitting Lorain county community college 14 to 11

In the Second inning, Tanner Colflesh singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run and Alex Borges grounded out, scoring one run.  In the bottom of the fourth inning, Westmoreland tied things up at five.  Dom Koch drove in one when he singled. Westmoreland notched three runs in the fourth inning.  Westmoreland batters contributing to the big inning included Jack McBride, Logan Short, and Koch, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Joe Druga went three and a third innings, allowing five runs on six hits and striking out two.  Jake Albaugh pitched the final 3.2 innings allowing five hits, and one run.

Westmoreland tallied 14 hits in game two.  Colflesh, Koch, and Ronnie Howard each managed multiple hits for the Wolfpack.  Howard, Koch, and Colflesh each collected three hits to lead Westmoreland.

With the split with Lorain the Wolfpack sit at 5-14 on the season, with their next game being Friday at Garrett Community College for a doubleheader.
