Potomac State drops season opener at Lenoir

Kinston, NC- Potomac State's season opener was spoiled by a masterful pitching performance from Lenoir Community College's Nick Widenour.   The Raleigh, NC native, went seven innings, allowed just two hits and struck out eight. 
 
The freshman walked just one to pick up his second win of the season as the lancers won 5-0. 
 
Braden Sloan and Carson Boober each singled for the Catamounts' lone hits. 
 
Dylan Bell took the loss for PSC.  Bell struck out four in three innings of work.  Aidan Sites struck out six in 3 1/3 innings of work.
 
Aidan Taylor homered for the Lancers, who improved to 10-4.  Jake Scott drove in a pair of runs and Owen Boyd had a pair of hits. 
 
PSC threatened on several occasions but left five men on base.  
 
Potomac State, (0-1) will face Lenoir again on Saturday for a pair of games beginning at noon.
