Game Notes

The Riverhawks displayed quite the attack this past weekend (9/22), defeating the Cardinals of CCBC Catonsville, 7-0. Playing on the Cardinals turf, the Riverhawks showed their strengths on offense – peppering shots on the Cardinal goalkeeper. Midway throught the first half with 8 shots fired yielding no goals, it was Randal Graham (Bowie, MD/Bowie) to finally hit the back of the net for the Riverhawks to claim the 1-0 lead. Just minutes later, Graham would contribute to goal number two for the Riverhawks assisting to Ashley Sherwin (Odenton, MD/Arundel) – her first goal of the season.

With AACC in clear control of the game, Angela Sarrach (Crofton, MD/South River) would finish her shot to give the Riverhawks a 3-0 lead, before Graham would follow two more times to complete her hat trick, with assists credited to Sudy Choc Ramirez (North County) and Jenna Holthaus (Arnold, MD/Broadneck). The Riverhawks would have a commanding, 5-0, lead over the Cardinals – outshooting them 18-0 at the end of the first half.

The second half proved to be a continuation of the Riverhawk's dominance over the Cardinals, with complete control on the offensive and defensive end. Holthaus would grab her first goal of the season before then adding another assist on the day, finding Reyna Bocanegra (Severn, MD/North County) to give the Riverhawks a 7-0 lead. Outshooting their opponents 21-0 in the second half and 39-0 overall, give credit to Cardinal goalkeepers who recorded 13 saves in the first half and 6 in the second.
