Women's Soccer Shuts Out Cecil, 10-0

NORTH EAST, MD – The Anne Arundel Community College women's soccer team earned its first win of the season in fashion Tuesday evening, holding host Cecil College without a shot on goal in a 10-0 victory. Freshman Morgan Argubright led the Riverhawks with a pair of goals and an assist.

Erika Jackson added a pair of goals, her first career multiple goal game. Kaley Feldhausen recorded her first multiple point game with a goal and an assist, and Jenny Robles-Mendez posted a goal and an assist. Scoring their first career goals were Alyssa Begunich, and Hannah Gartner. Defender Alessandra Gargano also found the back of the net.  

Goalkeeper Sarah Ward earned her first career shutout win in 90 minutes of action.

AACC got on the board in the third minute on a Cecil own goal. Felthausen fed Gartner for her first goal in the 23rd minute and followed with her own tally from Alexis Arias seven minutes later to give the Riverhawks a 3-0 lead headed into the break.

Jackson and Argubright opened the second half with unassisted tallies before Chloe Augustin connected with Gargano for a 6-0 lead in the 65th minute. Jackson added her second in the 73rd minute before Begunich took feed from Argubright and Robles-Mendez for an 8-0 lead in the 79th minute. Robles-Mendez and Argubright closed out the scoring in the final seven minutes.

AACC recorded 34 shots in the game and held a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks. Cecil College goalkeeper Julianne Thompson made 12 saves in the loss.

The Riverhawks return home on Thursday to host the College of Southern Maryland in a 5 pm game at Siegert Field.
