Late Push Not Enough As Owls Fall To Garrett College

The Prince George's men's basketball team visited Garrett College on Wednesday night, January 29th in a Maryland JUCO clash looking to rebound from a tough loss to Montgomery College earlier in the week. The Owls stumbled down the stretch as they watched the Lakers steal an 80-79 victory to drop Prince George's to 13-7 on the season including 3-6 MD JUCO.

Trailing 34-25 in the first half, the Owls put together a 22-8 run to head into halftime with a five point lead, 47-42. In a back and forth second half, the Lakers were able to pull away late before sophomore Tunde Scrivner tied the score up twice in the final minutes, the second of which evened the score at 79 with 15 seconds remaining. After Garrett later went one for two from the free-throw line on their next possession, the Owls had one more chance at a winning shot which ultimately came up short as Scrivner attempted a driving layup at the buzzer.

The Owls were again led by Scrivner who recorded his third triple-double of the season with 28 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds. Teammate Isaiah Miles recorded his 7th double-double of the season with a 18 point, 11 rebounds performance in the loss. Up next for the Owls is a home game against CCBC Catonsville on Wednesday, February 5th. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 pm.
