16 Different Players Score in Win Over College of Southern Maryland

ARNOLD, MD – The women's lacrosse team defeated the College of Southern Maryland for the second time this season, winning 17-6 last night, with 16 different players contributing the final score. The Riverhawks are now 7-2 on the season and 3-1 in the conference.

Normally in goal, Victoria Mattoon found herself starting at attack last night, while midfielder Emily Rowe stepped in between the pipes for AACC. Early in the game, Mattoon was able to finish off a free position shot, scoring the first goal for the Region 20 match-up – also her first goal of the season.

It didn't take long for Rowe to record the first save of her career, stopping a free position shot attempt from the College of Southern Maryland just minutes after Mattoon had made one for AACC. An offensive All-American last year, Rowe now has 2 career saves with 16 min as goalkeeper added to her record.

16 different Riverhawk players scored in the win (the entire active roster for the day), with Nicolette Powell, Amaya Odgers, Careen Rivera, Sidney Hinkle, and Magdalene McGeady all getting their first for the season.

Although the Hawks of Southern Maryland were able to capitalize on some mistakes made by AACC in the second half, scoring 3 while holding AACC to just 3, the dominating first half by the Riverhawks proved too much for Southern Maryland, ultimately falling 17-6.

The Riverhawks next match-up is an away game scheduled for Thursday April 13th at 6:00 p.m. against the Fighting Owls of Harford Community College.
