CCBC Catonsville Falls Short in Defensive Battle Against Montgomery College
Columbia, MD -- CCBC Catonsville Cardinals fell to Montgomery College 52-45. Both teams struggled to find their rhythm offensively, but Montgomery's dominance on the boards and key second-chance points helped secure the victory.
The Cardinals were led by Serafina Stubbs, who put up 18 points while grabbing 13 rebounds in a strong double-double performance. Maleyah Bell added 13 points and five assists, but the Cardinals' shooting woes proved costly. Catonsville shot just 26.7% from the field and failed to connect on a single three-pointer, going 0-for-9 from beyond the arc. Despite their struggles, they managed to stay in the game thanks to their defensive effort, forcing 16 steals and blocking three shots.
Montgomery College capitalized on their rebounding advantage, pulling down 29 offensive boards and 61 total rebounds compared to Catonsville's 37. Kennedy Clifton was a force inside, grabbing 14 rebounds while chipping in six points. Tiana Carey led Montgomery with 13 points, while Sanai Massenburg contributed nine points and five assists. Despite shooting just 24.4% from the field, Montgomery's ability to control the glass and earn second-chance opportunities made the difference.
Next season, the Cardinals will look to bounce back by improving their shooting efficiency and continuing their strong defensive play. With a focus on ball movement and perimeter shooting, the Cardinals aim to turn things around in the upccoming season.
