GAME DAY: Women's Soccer Falls to Howard CC in Dragon Invitational

GAME DAY: Women's Soccer Falls to Howard CC in Dragon Invitational

The Roadrunner women's soccer team held their own for more than one-half against nationally ranked Howard Community College Saturday -- but everything fell apart quickly, leading to a 7-2 loss Saturday afternoon in the Dragon Invitational.

Behind 1-0 at halftime and later 2-0 to start the second half, the Runners crept to within 2-1 on a goal by Crisandra Civatte (Williamstown), assisted by Kayla Davila (Buena Regional).

But the Dragons ran off four consecutive goals, with three assisted by Madalyn Nichols, to widen the lead to 6-2 en route to the easy triumph.

Freshman Leigh Swietanski (West Deptford) closed out the scoring for the Runners with an assist from Angelina Mowad (Washington Township).

Next up for Coach Megan Ruttler's team will be an 11:00 am game against Anne Arundel CC (MD) in the second round of the Dragon Invitational.
