Lions Beat Nassau, Fall to St. John's River State

New Rochelle, NY - In the second day of the Monroe Preseason Invitational the Lions started off strong with a win over Nassau Community College. RVCC was able to complete the game in straight sets as they held Nassau to under 18 points in each set. The Lions had a season high twelve service aces during the game with Izabela Bar registering 4 and Kelly Delaney chipping in with 3. 

In the second game of the day the Lions faced a tough St. John's River squad and would eventually fall in straight sets. The Lions improved in every set as they lost the first one 25-13, the second 25-15, and really put up a fight in the final set to lose 25-20. Olivia Sims led the way with 7 kills while Kelly Delaney was a staple on defense registering 13 digs. 

The Lions now sit at 2-2 on the year and will return to action this Saturday as they will play both Rockland Community College and Queensborough Community College. The Lions beat Rockland 3-0 in the first round of the losers bracket of the National Tournament last year in Rochester, Minnesota. The last time the Lions faced Queensborough was also in Rochester, but in 2019 and they lost 3-1.
