Pioneers get a Team Win

Pioneers get a Team Win

Despite the short notice the Pioneers came out ready to play scoring three runs in the first inning when the top three hitters in the order reached base safely and came around to score. Those three runs set the tempo for the rest of the afternoon and CCBC Catonsville never recovered in route to a 4-1 Pioneers victory. On the mound for the Pioneers was a steady mix of reliable arms, having six pitchers see action. The Pitching staff combined for the win giving up zero earned runs for the third time in the last eight games. The Pioneers will be in action again Saturday at Polk State College to close out their non conference schedule. After that, the Pioneers head into the conference season where they will compete against Broward College, Palm Beach State College, Miami-Dade College, and Eastern Florida State College. The top two conference records earn automatic bids to the state tournament where teams compete for a chance to go to the World Series. Conference play begins Sunday, here at Indian River at 1pm against Eastern Florida.
