BALTIMORE - Cecil College baseball lost both sides of a road doubleheader against Region 20 foe CCBC-Catonsville on Wednesday afternoon.
The Seahawks are now 19-18 (14-12 R20) on the season.
Game One - Catonsville 10, Cecil 0
Cecil's offense was limited to four hits and three walks, leading to a shutout loss in the opener. Tyler Burger and Brendan Aiken collected two base knocks each, while three Seahawks chipped in one free pass. Cecil hitters struck out just one time, but the Cardinals needed only 74 pitches to put them away.
Hunter Sipel (2-2) took the loss from the hill. Derek Santiago and Ashtin Keith featured in 1 1/3 innings of relief apiece.
Game Two - Catonsville 2, Cecil 1
Both teams were kept off the board through five frames. The Seahawks scored its only run of the day on a fielder's choice that brought home Chris Woods in the top of the sixth.
Catonsville battled in the bottom part of the frame, leading off the inning for a walk and moving him over with a groundout. The Cardinals turned to a bench bat next, and were rewarded with a two-run homer to take the lead. Cecil held Catonsville off the scoreboard thereafter, but the Seahawks eventually went down in order in the top of the seventh.
Four Seahawks produced one hit each, including one hit and one RBI from Brayden Janzer. Starter Colin Shea received a no decision after five solid innings on the mound. Chad Francis (2-3) was stuck with the loss.
