Cardinals Improve to 2-1 with Resounding Win over Middlesex College

CCBC Catonsville's women's basketball team picked up their second win of the season on Friday to move to 2-1, showing dominance over the Middlesex College Colts in a 68-45 victory.

 

The game started off slow with both teams scoring low points throughout the first quarter with the score only being 6-7 Cardinals. Then eventually the Cardinals built a lead midway throughout the second quarter leading into halftime up 25-22. Freshman guard Ahna Thomas (Bowie) led the way in the second quarter with 9 points on her way to being the game's leading scorer with 18 points while knocking down 2 three pointers coming off the bench. 

 

The Cardinals led the majority of the rest of the contest and never looked back as they showed resilience in keeping their lead over the Colts. The Cardinals shot 38.6% from the field while holding Middlesex College to only 28.6%.

 

The Cardinals defense feasted all game long recording 18 steals as a team along with 3 blocks. The Cardinals also displayed excellent team chemistry with 16 assists. This led to the whole team's dominant effort in this win!

 

The Cardinals got a huge boost from their bench with 35 points coming from it. Along with 4 3 pointers made, the Cardinals had 10 points from the free throw line. They continued to play monumental defense on the Colts while out rebounding them 45-38. Freshman guard Ah'niya (Coppin Academy) Tillery had 10 rebounds of her own while chipping in 6 points as well.

 

Sophomore guard Destiny Perry (Sparrows Point) had 10 points, 7 assists, 2 rebounds and 7 steals! Sophomore guard/forward Amaree McKinght (National Christian Academy) joined her in double digits with 12 points while adding 4 rebounds and 2 assists.

 

The Cardinals next home game will be on November 21 against Allegany College of Maryland.
