Cardinals' Bench Shines in win over Riverhawks

CCBC Catonsville's men's basketball team scored their second-straight win on Friday, defeating Anne Arundel Community College 99-81.

The Cardinals saw four players off the bench score double-digits as the offense clicked perfectly Friday evening. Catonsville shot 68 percent from the free throw line, hit 12 threes, and saw eleven different players score in a total team effort.

Catonsville struck fast and early, taking a twelve-point lead into the half. Despite a spirited effort by the Riverhawks to make a game of it, the Cardinals kept Anne Arundel at bay. Catonsville's defense recorded 48 rebounds and forced 16 turnovers, converting Anne Arundel's mistakes into easy buckets. By the final minutes of the second half, the Cardinals had built a 20-point lead over their rivals.

Leading the way offensively for the Cardinals was sophomore guard Jo-Nathan Kelly (Strawberry Mansion), who scored 19 points off the bench. Freshman guard Di'Quan Green (Carver Vo Tech) had a career day with 17 points and five three-pointers. Sophomore guard Prince Anderson (Millwood) scored 13 points off the bench, while sophomore forward Jason Ogbolu (Calvert Hall) added 10 points, six rebounds, and two steals. Sophomore forward Albright Obode (Plainfield) recorded another double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.

Next up for the Cardinals will be an away match with Garrett College on January 17.
