Baseball Drops Pair at Harford

BEL AIR, MD – The Anne Arundel Community College baseball team dropped a pair of MDJUCO games at Division I Harford Community College Tuesday afternoon. The Riverhawks fell, 9-1, in the opener, and 14-2 in the shortened nightcap.

In the opener, AACC spotted the Owls a 7-0 lead before Matt Johnson drove in the Riverhawks' lone run with a double in the fourth. Logan Kirk shouldered the loss with eight hits, four strikeouts and three walks through two innings. Gavin Umphries pitched the final four innings, allowing three hits and two runs while fanning four.

AACC scored two runs in the top of the first of the second game, as Lennie Lehner drove in Jaden Jones with a single, a play which also saw Daniel Stern score as Lehner was caught in a rundown at second. Gage Utz was chased out after 1.2 innings, allowing seven runs on two hits and four walks. Noah June and Cam Rees combined to allow seven runs over the remaining two and two-thirds innings of the five-inning game.

AACC returns home to face Corning Community College in a pair of doubleheaders. Saturday's twinbill starts at 12 pm, and Sunday's begins at 11 am.
