Lorain CCC Lady Commodores Drop Close Game in Rematch

Decemver 2, 2015 - After an eight-day holiday layoff, the Lorain CCC Women's Basketball team came up short as they traveled to play a fresh Westmoreland CCC who just came off of a close lost on Monday night. In a close contest tonight, LCCC lost 54-60 and now sit at 5-3 on the season.

Match Recap
LCCC knocked off the Wolfpack on November 24 in an overtime victory (88-85) at home. This time around the Lady Commodores couldn't find a way to pull off the win in what turned out to be another nail biter. With Onyx Lopez under the weather, the Lady Commodores had to find other ways to produce points; Lopez fell well under her season average but still managed to chip in 10 points on the night.
Angel Blakely seemed to have the hot hand for the Lady Commodores as she led the team with 12 points but as a unit the Commodores struggled to connect. Shooting just 31 percent on the night, they also hurt themselves by committing 21 turnovers which never allowed the team to find their groove.

Even with their struggles, LCCC fought to the very end where they almost repeated things as they closed the gap late in the game. With under a minute to play, LCCC found a way to turn the double-digit lead into single digits by getting as close as 4 points to WCCC. With not enough time or gas left in the tank to pull off their second miracle, the Commodores fell short 60-54.

After the game Coach Granito found positives in a tough situation. "We just shot poorly and had way too many turnovers but having a long layover never helps. With another layover until our next game, we'll do a lot of fundamental shooting and ball handling to correct these phases of our game and be ready for December 12."
