Men's Soccer Makes Stunning Comeback Against NOVA

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA -- After falling behind 4-0 midway through the first half, the Richard Bland College of William & Mary men's soccer team scored eight unanswered goals to defeat Northern Virginia Community College, 8-4, Tuesday afternoon on Willcox Field. 

The Statesmen have now won nine straight games to improve to 10-1 on the season. RBC next hosts Regent University at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8 at Willcox Field.

After a challenging start that saw RBC trail 4-0, eight straight goals ensued. Gorka Delgado, assisted by Jack Gilbert, was able to squeeze a goal for the Statesmen in the last minutes of the first half. While the Nighthawks held the lead in the first half, the Statesmen made an aggressive comeback in the second half, scoring six goals. Delgado scored the first goal in the second half of the game, bringing the score to 2-4, followed by Antonio Ferreira scoring the third goal, assisted by Miguel Tirado Thomas.

Halfway through the second half, Gonzalo Bazan equalizes the game with another goal for the Statesmen. Minutes later, Ferreira scored yet again, assisted by Gilbert. Delgado secured the next two goals, followed by an accidental goal for the Statesmen by the Nighthawks.
