The Lions started out the game strong going up 7-0 thanks to coach Byron King's play calling. The Lions lead ballooned up to 21 points, 36-15, with 6:27 left in the first half forcing the Trojans to call a timeout. The Trojans would mount a wild comeback going on a 21-4 run to close out the half with the Lions up 4, 40-36.
