Welcome to the kick off of the Men's Bryant & Stratton Bobcats season as they traveled on the road to compete in the CCBC Dundalk Donald Beasley Mixer held in Baltimore, Maryland over the weekend in which the Bobcats would have a game on Saturday vs. the Raritan Valley CC Lions and Sunday vs. the College of Southern Maryland Hawks.
The Men's team similar to the Women's team had lost a majority of their players due to moving on to other schools resulting in the Bobcats only have 3 returning players to the roster from last seasons 2nd seed conference performance and one of the best seasons for the team in Bryant & Stratton History. Now having to start over with a new group, there was sure to be some growing pains.
Game 1 of the Mixer, the Bobcats faced off against the Lions in what seemed to be a pretty even matchup & the Bobcats would take a 3pt lead heading into the half, a lead that they would hold until late in the second half and the Bobcats fouls would add up propelling the Lions in the closing minutes to put the game away and steal a win (73-78).
The Bobcats were led by #1 Kahlil Oden with 23pts, 4ast & #23 De'Von Brown with his first double-double of the season 13pts, 10reb (5 offensive)
Game 2 of the Mixer, the Bobcats would find themselves in familiar territory as they faced a formidable opponent in the Hawks & would take a 5pt leaded going into halftime. This Bobcats would have a lead late in this one and would try to put the Hawks away but a late turnover up 2pts with .10 second left would give the ball back to the Hawks resulting in them tying the game at 86. Thanks to the late game heroics by #23 De'Von Brown who would finish with 9pts and 5reb, the Bobcats would escape with the Win as #23 Brown would hit a Buzzer-Beating shot off the glass to put the game away.
The Bobcats were led by #13 Gamar Powers snagging the first double-double of his career with 15pts, 13reb (5 offensive) & #1 Kahlil Oden with 13pts, 6ast
Next for the Bobcats (1-1) they will have 5 days off before hosting Guilford Tech CC (1-1) on Saturday 11/11 (Veterans Day) in the home opener, which will also be the Bobcats Military Appreciation game.
