#7 Prince George’s Women’s Basketball Takes Care Of Philadelphia, 55-43 To Remain Unbeaten

The Prince George's Community College women's basketball team continued their hot start to the season with another win against a divisional opponent, this time a 55-43 victory over Community College of Philadelphia in Novak Field House on Tuesday evening, November 22nd. The Owls now head into the Thanksgiving break with a perfect 5-0 record before their first Maryland JUCO contest following the holiday.

Neither team shot well to open the game as the two programs combined for just 22 points at the conclusion of the first period with the Owls in front, 14-8. Prince George's proceeded to lose only their second period of the season in the next quarter with the Lions outscoring the Owls 16-13 to cut into their lead by the break, 27-24.

Prince George's used an 8-0 run midway through the third quarter to regain control and claim a double-digit lead, 44-31 by the third period buzzer. The Lions refused to give up in the final stretch, coming to within 8 points of Prince George's with momentum going their way during an 8-0 run themselves before the Owls shut them down with under a minute to go to close the doors on any chance at a final comeback.

Alicia Jones finished as the Owls leading scorer with 16 points while adding 8 rebounds. Tori Tolson recorded a double-double with 11 boards and 10 points while Janiah Williams grabbed 17 rebounds and added 9 points. Tuesday's win was Williams third straight game with ten-plus rebounds.

Despite losing both the second and fourth quarters, Prince George's held the Lions under 10 points in the other two to keep Philadelphia in check to pick up their fifth win. The Owls will face their first non-divisional opponent next week when they return to action at home on Wednesday, November 30th against College of Southern Maryland.
