No. 2 Harford CC Outpaces No. 5 Men's Lacrosse

BEL AIR, MD – In its second top-five matchup of the week, the 5th ranked Anne Arundel Community College men's lacrosse team was outpaced by 2nd ranked Harford Community College, losing 26-10 Saturday afternoon at Harford Stadium.  

Caden Cote scored two goals, assisted another, and caused three turnovers in the loss. Jordan Kopf, Chris Greenstein, and Ethan Gaeng netted a pair of goals each, and Hugh Edwards made a season-high 18 saves in the loss.

Greenstein picked up his pair in the first quarter, followed by Conor Mackrell's first of the game with just eight seconds left in the frame.

Trailing 8-4 headed into the second quarter, the Riverhawks gave up a pair of quick goals before Kopf bookended an Owls' tally with his two to make it 11-6 in favor of the home team.

Harford extended its lead to 17-8 in the third despite two goals from Gaeng, and after Moheiser started the scoring in the fourth, the Owls went on a nine-goal run spanning more than nine minutes. Cote capped the scoring with his second with 1:21 to play.

Chandler Schmidt led all scorers with five goals and four assists, while Owen Consoletti added five goals and three helpers.

Moriah Yousefi won 31 of 38 faceoffs, picking up 21 of the Owls' 53 groundballs in the game. Greenstein won six faceoffs as the Riverhawks' primary at the X, and led the team with five groundballs.

Harford scored two man-up goals on five opportunities, while AACC finished 0-2 in a game that saw just seven total penalties.

Anne Arundel continues NJCAA Region XX action Saturday, April 13, in a 12 pm game at College of Southern Maryland. The two teams last met in 2017, an 18-8 AACC victory in La Plata, Md.
