Cardinals Snap Losing Streak Against Allegany College

On February 27th, the Cardinals women's basketball team took on Allegany College, coming out on top 71-48. 

On the evening of the team's sophomore night, the Cardinals snap out of their losing skid and end the regular season on a high note, beating Allegany College 71-48. 

In the first quarter, the Cardinals would go down 5-2 with just over two minutes played. However, two Kayla Cabbagestalk (Chesapeake High School) free throws would see the Cardinals take a lead that they would not relinquish for the rest of the game. An Ah'niya Tillery (Coppin Academy) three-pointer with 1:20 left to go in the quarter would see the Cardinals take an 18-13 lead to the second quarter.  

In the second quarter, both teams would trade scores for the opening five minutes. Thanks to a Destiny Perry (Sparrows Point High School) jump shot with 5:10 left and an Ah'niya Tillery jumper with 4:35 left, the Cardinals would take a seven-point lead. Another Ah'niya Tillery jumper with just under 30 seconds left in the half would see the Cardinals take a 34-24 lead into the break.  

In the third quarter, the Cardinals would continue to groove on offense, with Destiny Perry putting the Cardinals up by 12 points with just under three minutes played. The Cardinals defense would hold Allegany to just 12 points in this quarter. With an Ah'niya Tillery three-pointer, the Cardinals would take a 15-point lead into the half, 51-36. 

In the fourth quarter, Kayla Cabbagestalk would score five points in 40 seconds to grow the Cardinals lead to 19 with 5:48 left to play. Two Ah'niya Tillery free throws with 3:13 left saw the Cardinals go up by 24 points. Ah'niya Tillery would cap off a great offensive game putting the Cardinals up 71-48 with 23 seconds left. The Cardinals would go on to win by the same score, snapping their nine-game losing streak. 

The Cardinals leading scorer was Ah'niya Tillery with 31 points, going 2-2 from the three-point line, setting a new season high. Destiny Perry finished with 21 points to go along with nine rebounds and eight assists.  

The Cardinals finished the regular season 10-14.
