High Scoring Jayhawks On A Roll

The JCC Jayhawks men's basketball team (7-5) hosted the Pioneers of Butler County Community College.   The Jayhawks jumped out to a 4-0 lead and after 5 minutes had gone by the Jayhawks held a narrow 10-6 lead.  #12 Tyler Moffe  hit a 3 pointer and the Jayhawks went on a run and would lead 24-15 with 10 minutes left in the first period.  The next 5 minutes led to a scoring explosion led by #32 Brandon Kemp leaving the Jayhawks with a comfortable 36-19 lead and the scoring would continue when #10 Derek Ice got hot, leaving the score Jayhawks 51, Pioneers 29 to end the first half. 

The second half saw the Jayhawks continue to score at will but the Pioneers began to chip away at their lead.  Led by #34 Jean Toussaint, the Jayhawks held a 62-36 after 5 minutes of play.  The next 5 minutes saw the Pioneers playing better and were able to narrow the gap being down 69-54 with 10 minutes to play.  With 5 minutes left, the Jayhawks lead had been reduced to 10 points, with the Pioneers trailing 78-68.  However a 3 pointer by #4 Michael Bush seemed to break the Pioneers momentum as the Jayhawks went on a run and ended the game downing the Pioneers 96-76.

The Jayhawks were led by #32 Brandon Kemp (Brooklyn) who had a double double of 26 points and 14 rebounds; #10 Derek Ice (Bronx) had 20 points; #34 Jean Toussaint had a double double of 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists; #12 Tyler Moffe had 13 points and 5 assists; #4 Michael Bush (Harlem) had 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists; #21 Brandon Banna had 5 points and 4 rebounds; and #22 Dashawn Branch had 5 points and 3 rebounds.
