Game Notes

The Riverhawks picked up their first Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MDJUCO) win this past Friday evening (11/30), defeating the NJCAA DII Trojans of Allegany College of Maryland, 90-61. Playing on their home court, the Riverhawks would jump out to an early lead over the Trojans and work to hold that control through the first. Despite giving up the lead for a brief moment to the Trojans late in opening quarter, Karley Haensler (Glen Burnie, MD/Glen Burnie) would quickly respond – knocking down a 3-point bucket, assisted by Marcelaine Augustin (Upper Marlboro, MD/Riverdale Baptist), regaining the AACC lead, 15-14, as time expired.

As the Trojans would look to contend of the now close match-up, the Riverhawks would quickly establish control – scoring 27 points in the second quarter, while holding the Trojans to 14. Heading into the locker room at halftime, the Riverhawks had a comfortable, 42-28, lead over the Trojans.

With no plans to slow down, AACC continued to capitalize by out-rebounding their opponent, and finishing from the floor. Steadily outscoring the Trojans, the Riverhawks would close out the contest – earning the MD JUCO conference win, 90-61.

Haensler would finish with 29 points on the night, shooting 9-19 from the floor, 5-8 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 6-6 at the free-throw line. Sarah Healy (Davidsonville, MD/South River) posted her third double double of the season with 23 points and an astounding 27 rebounds. Lacey Hinkle (Annapolis, MD/Broadneck) finished with 11 points and 9 rebounds, and Aloni Quille (Odenton, MD/Arundel) finished with 10 points and 5 rebounds.
