Howard Tops Men's Lacrosse in Region 20 Game

ARNOLD, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College men's lacrosse team closed out the regular season with a 14-7 loss to Howard Community College Wednesday evening at Siegert Field. Sam Barrett scored three goals for AACC.

The Riverhawks recognized their second year players prior to the game: Barrett, Jack Schiavone, John McElhenny, Kyle Barkley, Logan Wheeler, Trevor Murray, and Nick Chargualaf.

After Howard built up a 7-0 lead by halftime, Barrett quickly scored the first of three Riverhawks goals in the third quarter with an unassisted goal at the 12:12 mark.

AACC took advantage of two personal foul penalties on the Dragons to score a pair of man-up goals, the first coming as McElhenny connected with Barrett at the 9:11 mark, followed by un unassisted goal from Justin Sampson at the 3:19 mark.

Barrett split the Dragon's six goal run in the fourth with an unassisted goal at 11:40.

Schiavone and TJ Swann each had three caused turnovers for the Riverhawks' defense, which recorded 12 caused turnovers in the game – the most this season in regional play. Swann also had five groundballs. Barkley recorded seven groundballs.

Parrish Fleming made 14 saves in a little over 57 minutes in net. Rocco Gargano made three stops in the fourth quarter.

The Riverhawks close out the regular season with a 4-7 record.
