Strong Second Half Lifts Owls Over Hawks

Prince George's entered Tuesday's match in unfamiliar territory having just come off their very first loss of the season. The Owls came out determined to rebound strongly against Hagerstown's Hawks and were successful, responding with a 4-0 victory.  

The Owls (7-1-1, 6-1-1) came out strong, creating twelve shots in the first half while the Hawks (4-9-1, 3-5-1) fired off nine shots of their own. Both teams had a one-on-one chance against the opposing teams keeper but each goalie was able to rush the ball and make the save. Prince George's Austin Geier found himself face to face with Hawks forward James Searcy in the 19^th minute who then attempted to put the ball past the Owls keeper. Geier was able to deflect the ball out of bounds to keep the game scoreless. Prince George's Brandon Betts nearly beat Hawks keeper Tshimanga Lumu on a breakaway but the keeper was able to disrupt his attack and head into halftime tied 0-0.

The Owls finally found the back of the net early in the second half with a goal from Abdou Fall Serigne who returned from a multiple week absence. Serigne also recorded an assist in the 58^th minute when he found Chris Garcia in front of the net to put the Owls up 2-0. Goalkeeper Austin Geier was even able to get in on the action when he cleared the ball out of his own defensive end, finding Leonardo Gonzalez who added another goal for the Owls in the 68^th minute. Alexis Gvevara finished the attack for the Owls, adding the fourth and final goal of the game in the 84^th minute.

The Owls gain some momentum before heading into their matchup against conference opponent Harford on Thursday, October 3^rd. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
