Host Niagara County Community College went 3-0 at this past weekend's annual NCCC Tip-Off Classic. The Thunderwolves, who improved to 5-0 on the young season, also moved up to No. 15 in the most recent NJCAA Div. II rankings. Next up for NCCC is a road tilt at Allegany College of Maryland (7:30 p.m. Nov. 22).
Niagara CCC 65, Cuyahoga CC 60
Sophomores Marcellus Cooper and Nick Simeon each scored 14 points off the bench as the Thunderwolves overcame an eight-point halftime deficit to knock off the previously-ranked Triceratops. Classmate David Petit-Homme netted 12 points for NCCC.
Niagara CCC 77, Allegany College of Maryland 72
Sophomore point guard Nigel Scantlebury had a career-best 24 points, seven rebounds and four assists as the T-Wolves knocked off the Div. I Trojans. Petit-Homme added 16 points and nine boards and fellow sophomore Hunter Anderson chipped in with 13 points, eight rebounds and three assists.
Niagara CCC 88, Bryant & Stratton (Albany) 63
Sophomore William Kondrat finished with 17 points as NCCC outscored the visitors by 21 after halftime. Simeon scored 16 points off the bench and Petit-Homme contributed 15 points and 12 rebounds.
