Bush, Walton lead Potomac State past Butler County CC

Keyser, WVa. – Potomac State College and Butler County Community College traded baskets for the first 10 minutes of their men's basketball game Monday evening at Lough Gymnasium. Cortney Walton dropped in a layup with 10:08 left in the half for a 27-20 Catamount lead that sparked a 26-3 Potomac State run and fueled a massive offensive explosion.

Potomac State, ranked No. 8 in the most recent NJCAA Division II Basketball Poll, finished the first half with a 57-28 lead.

The Catamounts ran wild in the second half, scoring 80 points and closing out the 137-82 win. For the game Potomac State averaged more than 2.2 shots per minute and shot 69.9 percent converting 56 of 89 field goal attempts.

Qualeke Bush paced the Catamount onslaught with 22 points on 9 of 11 shooting, 2 of 3 from 3-point range, and 2 of 4 from the free throw line. Breland Walton added 20 points on 10 of 13 shooting. A total of seven PSC players scored double figures. Joe Bokey had a game high 10 rebounds.

The lone bright spot for the BCCC Pioneers was Jamir Carter's 31 points.

The Catamounts (2-0) play again on Friday at 7 p.m. at Lough Gymnasium when they host CCBC Dundalk.
