SECOND QUARTER HURTS WOLFPACK IN LOSS TO ANNE ARUNDEL

YOUNGWOOD, Pa. - The Westmoreland County Community College women's basketball team took a first quarter lead against Anne Arundel for the second consecutive day, but the Riverhawks rallied to take a 78-56 victory over the Wolfpack Saturday afternoon.

In Friday's opener, Westmoreland raced out to a 22-17 lead after the opening quarter. In Saturday's match-up, the Wolfpack took a 17-14 advantage after the opening 10 minutes. But Anne Arundel seized control of the game by outscoring the home team 30-7 in the second period to take the lead into halftime. In the third quarter, Hannah Hempfield scored nine point in the frame to help the Wolfpack cut the Riverhawk lead down going into the fourth quarter, but Anne Arundel held on to take home the win.

Hempfield finished the afternoon with 19 points, as well as six rebounds and four steals. Inside, Mackenzie Markle dropped in 13 while hauling down seven rebounds. Notching 10 points each was Dymond Crawford, who also blocked four shots, and Hannah O'Brien, who came off the bench to total 10 points and grab five rebounds.

Westmoreland will return to the court Tuesday with a road trip to Penn State-DuBois. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 pm.
