Cardinals Win Fourth Straight Via Mercy Rule

CCBC Catonsville's softball team finished their spring break road trip with a dominant victory over Garrett College.

For the fourth game in a row, the Cardinals won by way of mercy rule, scoring a 15-1 victory.

The Cardinals erupted for 12 runs in the first inning, then added two more in the second. One more run in the top of the fifth ensured another victory for the Cardinals, pushing their record above .500 for the first time all season.

Catonsville was led by a dominant pitching performance from freshman pitcher Kayleigh Rishel (Leonardtown). Across five innings, Rishel struck out 14 batters. She even recorded an RBI in her first at-bat of the season. Offensively, the Cardinals were led by a dominant performance from sophomore Abigail Heagy (Eastern Tech) with a double, triple, and three RBIs. Sophomore first baseman Felicity Voss (Catonsville) added a double and three RBIs, freshman shortstop Morhgan Gross (Howard) had a double and two RBIs, and freshman outfielder Mattie Brack (Our Lady of Mount Carmel) added two RBIs.
