Chesapeake, VA- The Bobcats, after a 13 day layoff, played their first two home games of the season against the Catamounts of Potomac State (3-1)and the #11 ranked Flyers of Sandhills (8-1).
Feb. 27, 2021- The Bobcats began the weekend defending their home court for the first time this year against Potomac State College. The Bobcats got out to a small 25-19 lead early on against the Catamounts. A 12-4 run by the Catamounts gave them the lead which they were able to maintain into halftime. The halftime score was 46-40, in favor of the Catamounts.
Much of the second half was back and forth action but the Bobcats still found themselves trailing. The Catamounts stretched their lead to 9 with 7 and a half minutes remaining in the contest. A furious 33-11 run to end the game by the Bobcats gave them a hard fought 93-80 win.
The Bobcats had 5 players finish with double-digit scoring. Shawn Sanders led the Bobcats in scoring with 22 points and 7 rebounds. Jalen Morris & Caleb Walker finished with 18 points & 16 points respectively. Tahli Oden recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Jalen Jordan led the Bobcats in assists with 8 and also scored 12 points as well.
Feb. 28, 2021- The Bobcats, fresh off of a hard fought win against Potomac State on Saturday, had their hands full taking on the #11 ranked Sandhills Flyers.
The Bobcats came out hot against the Flyers and took an early 19-12 lead. A 9-2 run by the Flyers tied things up. The rest of the half was back and forth as the two teams exchanged leads. The Bobcats led 42-40 at intermission.
The Flyers took control early in the second half and took a 4 point lead through the first 5 minutes. They would stretch out the lead to 12 with 8 minutes remaining in the half. Over the next 4 minutes the Bobcats battled back to take the lead 81-79. A big shot by Jaylin Stewart put the Bobcats up 1 in the final minute of the game and a corner-3 by Caleb Walker with 40 seconds remaining sealed the game for the Bobcats who went on to win 91-86 over the Flyers.
Jaylin Stewart led the Bobcats in scoring with 22 and also led the team in assists with 6. Shawn Sanders and Caleb Walker both finished with 15 points a piece. Te'Shaun Knightnor led the Bobcats in rebounding with 16, including a crucial one in the end of the game.
