WOLFPACK UPENDED AT POTOMAC 68-59

KEYSER, W.Va. - The Westmoreland County Community College women's basketball team played Division II Potomas State even throughout Thursday's game, but the Catamounts' 12-4 third-quarter scoring advantage provided the difference in a 68-59 win over the Wolfpack.

Westmoreland held a 10-9 lead after the opening period, but Potomac slid ahead by a 35-34 count at halftime. The Wolfpack were paced in the first half by Dymond Crawford and Mackenzie Markle with 10 points each.

In the third quarter, Westmoreland ran cold, shooting just 1-of-15 from the floor, as the Catamounts scored 12 of the 16 points in the quarter to build a 47-38 lead heading into the fourth quarter. In the final frame, the Wolfpack tried to come back behind Markle. She made three buckets and was a perfect 5-for-5 from the foul line for 11 points in the period, but the Catamounts held the Wolfpack off to come away with the win.

Markle's big fourth quarter punctuated an outstanding game, as she finished with 23 points and 15 rebounds. Big games were also turned in by Crawford and Hannah Hempfield with 14 points each and Julea Claycomb with eight points and 12 boards.

The Wolfpack are now off through the holidays and will return to action on Jan. 4 with a 1 pm home tip-off against Penn State-DuBois.
