Volleyball Splits With Howard, CCAC-Boyce

COLUMBIA, MD – The Anne Arundel Community College volleyball team split a Region XX tri-match with host Howard Community College and CCAC Boyce. The Riverhawks defeated Howard, 3-1, before falling to CCAC Boyce, 3-1, in the final match of the day.

AACC dropped the second set to the Dragons en route to a 25-21, 14-25, 25-11, 25-21. The Riverhawks averaged over nine kills per set in the win, matching a season high.

Alle Forbes and Karen Bautista Carmona recorded eight kills each, with Bautista Carmona adding four aces. Leah Hernandez added a career-best 28 assists to go with three kills. Tara Gabrielsen earned seven aces to go with 21 digs, and Sylvia Frye had seven kills to go with a pair of aces and 17 digs.

In the afternoon match against CCAC Boyce, AACC kept it close the whole way, winning the second set in a 23-25, 25-19, 20-25, 20-25 loss to the St. Bernards. Bautista Carmona led the offense with 11 kills. Frye added seven kills, three aces, and seven digs. Grace Lindemann returned to the lineup recording 10 assists in three sets.

AACC returns home on Wednesday, October 16 to host Frederick Community College at 6 pm.
