Wolfpack Battle Prince George CC Tough in Loss

YOUNGWOOD, Pa. - Tyler Diggs knocked down six three-pointers and scored a team-high 20 points and Cam McKinney totaled 17 points and 10 assists for his second straight double-double, as the Westmoreland County Community College men's basketball team battled Region XX rival Prince George's CC tough in a 122-85 setback Sunday afternoon.

The Wolfpack stayed close in the early stages, as a McKinney hoop had the home team within four at 14-10 near the 13-minute mark of the first half. The Owls used a big surge to take control, scoring 21 of the next 27 points over the next three minutes. That run helped push PG to a 60-37 halftime lead.

Westmoreland continued to battle over the final 20 minutes, as Diggs canned three of his six triples after the break and Travis McCoy tallied 12 in the second half. For the game, the Wolfpack shot 51.6 percent from the floor, their second-highest total of the year, and passed out a season-best 24 assists.

Diggs led the home team scoring with his 20 points, the third time this year he's hit for at least 20. McKinney, who had a career-high 32 points and 10 assists in Friday's game at CCAC, came back with 17 points and 10 assists for his second double-double in a row. McCoy's big second half propelled him to a season-best 17 points and he also hauled down eight rebounds. Rounding out the double-digit scorers was Dan McQuaide with a dozen.

The Wolfpack are back in action Monday night when they host Potomac State in a doubleheader. The women's game will tip-off at 5 pm and the men will follow at 7 pm.
