WOLFPACK RALLY PAST GARRETT FOR FIRST WIN

YOUNGWOOD, Pa. - A fourth-quarter rally by the Westmoreland County Community College women's basketball team led to a go-ahead bucket by Dymond Crawford with 1:04 to play and the Wolfpack pulled out a 59-56 home-court victory over Garrett College Friday night.

After trailing by one at halftime, Westmoreland went cold to start the third period, as the Lakers built up a 44-33 lead midway through the quarter. The Wolfpack would start the comeback in that period, as Hannah Hempfield scored seven points and Mackenzie Markle scored in the closing seconds to trim the Garrett lead to 46-42 going into the fourth.

The lead changed hands a couple times in the final period, but the Wolfpack took the lead for good when Crawford hit a shot in the lane with just over a minute on the clock. Westmoreland then relied on a defense that didn't allow a field goal over the final four minutes and two Crawford foul shots in the final minute to help clinch the victory.

Crawford would lead all scorers with 17 points and also pulled down seven rebounds. Two others scored in double digits for Westmoreland, with Markle just missing a double-double with 14 points and nine boards and Hempfield firing in 13 points and adding five steals and three assists. A big night was also turned in by Julea Claycomb, as she compiled nine points, 17 rebounds, five steals and three blocked shots in the triumph, the first under the tenure of first-year head coach James Brymn.

The Wolfpack will try for two in a row when they travel to Penn State-Fayette Wednesday, Nov. 20th for a 6 pm tip-off.
