Cecil College Holiday Classic Recap

NORTH EAST - Cecil men's basketball dropped both of its games by narrow margins during the Cecil College Holiday Classic.

Monroe CC 86 - Cecil 79

Shaun Chandler and Jonathan Hardy dropped 17 points each, but the Seahawks fell just short on Friday evening.

The Tribunes took the lead from Cecil midway through the first half and never returned it. Monroe stretched its lead to 15 and eventually 20 in the second, but the Seahawks fought hard and pulled back within seven points with under a minutes left. The late surge came up just short, as the Tribunes knocked down six straight free throw attempts to seal the contest.

Deuce Bevins II led the Seahawks on the glass with five rebounds. The sophomore also chipped in 13 points.

Sullivan County 93 - Cecil 86

Cecil suffered a similar fate in the finale of the Holiday Classic, as a second half comeback fell just short during Saturday's contest against Sullivan.

Shaun Chandler stepped up on offense for the second day in a row, scoring 23 points on an efficient 10-for-13 showing. 14 of his 23 points came in the second half.

The Seahawks trailed by 12 entering the break, but outscored the Generals 50-45 over the final 20 minutes. Cecil also made more shots overall (37 to 34), but Sullivan collected 18 points from free throws compared to the Seahawks eight.
