Catamounts Take On Hawks

Catamounts Take On Hawks

Potomac State Women's Soccer took on the Hawks of Southern Maryland in a Region 20 matchup Saturday afternoon.

The Catamounts started strong, pressuring the Hawks back line, and firing their first shot of the game in the opening seconds of the game. In the 10th minute, Jaylene Ziegler netted the first goal of the game with an assist from Morgan Pyles, giving Potomac State an early 1-0 lead. In the 36th minute, Pyles would get a goal for herself, putting the Catamounts up 2-0. The Catamounts would fire off 9 more shots in the half and took a 2-0 lead into the break.

The Hawks came out strong in the second half, netting a goal of their own just three minutes in to the half. Potomac State didn't let that stop them from taking back their two goal lead in the 70th minute, when Alyssa Dunn put away a corner from Makenzie Park. The Catamounts would hold onto their lead and win the match after the game was called due to lightning.

Hartley VanGilder played all 90 minutes in net, making 5 saves.
