Norfolk, VA - Bryant & Stratton College Men's and Women's basketball teams hosted Montgomery College, Louisburg CC, Patrick Henry CC and Germanna CC this weekend for Sophomore Night.
The #5 Lady Bobcats (8-8) opened the weekend on Saturday against #4 Louisburg CC (8-6), for their annual "Pink Out" series to honor Cancer Awareness. BSC's Meara Carter and Takeira Grant led the Bobcats offense with 27 and 25 points, respectively. Grant contributed 5 stls and 1 ast, while Carter had 13 rebs and 1 stl. The Bobcats trailed 41-50 at the half and couldn't take the lead. The Hurricanes sealed the win 91-96.
The Lady Bobcats returned on Sunday for Sophomore Night to host Montgomery College. Takeira Grant kept the momentum from Saturday and scored 26 points on the day. Montgomery took the win 59-78. After the game, BSC honored Sophomores Serenity, Nia, De'Asia and Special for a successful season.
The #6 Bobcats (13-8) hosted #10 Patrick Henry CC (4-16) for game #2 of the tripleheader. Sophomore Jamari Roberts contributed 11 points and 9 rebs, while Taisaun Doherty-Glenn scored 9 points, 4 rebs and 3 stls. The Bobcats trailed by 1 at the half 25-26 and couldn't hold off the Patriots. Final 54-59. During halftime, Sophomores Darius, Tisheed, Jamari, Darius, Herman and Darrius were all honored with pictures and farewell gifts.
Lastly, to close out the weekend, VIT hosted Germanna CC Sunday evening. The Bobcats came out the gate with momentum that carried them through the first and second half. VIT didn't let up with took an overwhelmingly lead 101-47. Coaches and families, of our Sophomores, honored them at half court with balloons and pictures. Congratulations to Eryn, Trenton and Khalil.
