Women’s Volleyball Defeats Nighthawks And Hurricanes At Home

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College women's volleyball team moves to 16-2 overall, 6-0 in conference play after hosting Northern Virginia Community College and Louisburg College in a tri match this afternoon.

 

With the two sweeps this afternoon, the women's volleyball team has earned their 13th sweep victory of the season as they remain on top of the Region 10 Division II East standings.

 

In the opener, Richard Bland took down the Nighthawks in three straight sets with scores of 25-8, 25-10 and 25-16. Silaulauinasimativa Aoelua led the attack with 12 kills, followed by Hailey Hopkins with eight. Sarah Heath and Sophia Kaiser chipped in with six kills each. Karagyn Durco added 28 assists and eight service aces, while Rlye Harris recorded 12 digs in the win.

 

In their second match of the day, Richard Bland took down the Hurricanes in three straight sets with scores of 25-5, 25-15 and 25-11. Leilani Goggin led the attack with 10 kills, followed by Aoelua and Heath with nine each. Sydney Phillips chipped in with five service aces and six digs, while Durco had 33 assists.

 

The Richard Bland women's volleyball team next travels to Pitt Community College on Wednesday, October 5th for a 6pm match.
