Despite shooting struggles in the first half, Potomac State found their rhythm after the break. They shot 46.3% in the second half and showcased improved ball movement and better shot selection. The team's overall 36.8% shooting performance from the field was a bit below their usual standards, but their toughness and tenacity kept them in the game.
The Catamounts also took full advantage of their free-throw opportunities, converting 78.3% (18-of-23) from the charity stripe. Late-game free throws from Eugene Bryant and Peter Quaye sealed the win and kept Garrett from mounting a comeback in the final seconds. Bryant's composure at the line proved invaluable as Potomac State executed under pressure to ensure the victory.
Defensively, Potomac State stepped up in the second half, limiting Garrett's scoring and forcing the Lakers into tough shots. While Garrett made some strong plays early, Potomac State's defense locked down in the final minutes, preventing any real chance for a Garrett comeback.
