Game Notes

AACC dropped, 79-44, to conference opponent Skipjacks of Chesapeake College this past Friday night (11/16). Of the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO), the Riverhawks opened up well against the hearty bench of Chesapeake, tied 10-10 after the first quarter. The Skipjacks would quickly take control after a dominating second quarter, outscoring the Riverhawks 28-11, and claiming the lead at halftime, 39-21.

Turnovers and rebounds would be unfortunate factors in the Riverhawk loss, as AACC would finish the night with 26 turnovers (against Chesapeake's 16) as well as being out-rebounded 48-25. The Riverhawks still exhibited great effort against the Skipjacks who average 78 points per game, but a full roster with impressive height for Chesapeake would be too much for AACC to handle.

Karley Haensler (Glen Burnie, MD/Glen Burnie) finished with 12 points and 5 rebounds on the night, and Marcelaine Augustin (Upper Marlboro, MD/Riverdale Baptist) posted 11 points on the night. One-point shy of a double double, Sarah Healy (Davidsonville, MD/South River) finished with 9 points and 10 rebounds for the Riverhawks.

Up Next

The Riverhawks will travel to Rockville, MD for their next match-up, facing the NJCAA DIII Region XX Raptors of Montgomery College. Tip-off set for 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday (11/20), this will be the Riverhawks first Conference, Regional, & Divisional game.
