Wolfpack Fall Short at Potomac 90-74

KEYSER, W.Va. - Potomac State shot 71 percent in the first half to build a 16-point halftime lead and the Westmoreland County Community College men's basketball team comeback efforts fell short in a 90-74 loss, which evened the Wolfpack's record at 1-1.

Potomac seized control in the first half by making 24-of-34 shots and out-rebounding Westmoreland 20-6 to take a 55-39 lead at intermission. The Wolfpack were led by Jakir Hampton in the opening half, as he went 4-for-4 from the arc and scored 15.

The second half opened with Mohamed Conde knocking down a pair of three-pointers to trim the Potomac lead to 55-45. However, the Wolfpack comeback efforts were thwarted by making just 2-of-11 from the arc the rest of the half, while the home team continued to shoot well (50 percent in the second half) to hold off Westmoreland.

Hampton finished as the top scorer for the Wolfpack, as he netted 20 while also grabbing five rebounds and passing out three assists. Conde finished with 17 points, with 15 coming in the second half. Also finishing in double figures was Joel LoNigro, who finished with 11 points and a team-leading six rebounds, and Brandon Baird, who had 10 points. Potomac had bsig effort from Noah Smith with 27 points and 14 rebounds and Thaddaeus Jordan with 23 points.

Westmoreland will be back on the floor Friday when they host Garrett in a 6 pm tip-off.
