Softball Swept at Delaware Tech Sunday

DOVER, DEL – The Delaware Technical Community College softball team defeated visiting Anne Arundel Community College in a pair of games Sunday afternoon, winning the opener 5-2 before taking the second game, 12-4 in five innings.

AACC (10-15) scored one in the third, but Delaware Tech responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning. The Riverhawks answered back to tie it in the fourth. A three-run sixth for the home team was the difference maker as Delaware Tech held on for the 5-2 win.

Gracie Culley struck out seven and gave up eight hits in the complete game loss. Kyleigh McQuade and Mariah Melendez-Richardson each hit doubles in the opener.

Sylvia Frye hit a two-run double in the first inning of the nightcap for the Riverhawks, but AACC surrendered the early lead. Alexis Silva took the loss on the mound in her first career appearance.

The Riverhawks return to Region XX action Tuesday in a doubleheader at CCBC Catonsville beginning at 3 pm.
