Cardinals Conclude Florida Road Trip with Loss to Daytona State

On February 24th, the Cardinals baseball team played game two of their doubleheader against Daytona State, losing 11-4 in nine innings.

This game concluded a long trip for the Cardinals in Florida. The Cardinals played well against some tough competition as they continued to ramp up and prepare for their regular season.

The Cardinals would go down early to the Falcons, as the Falcons would score two runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Cardinals would chip into that lead with a Quinn Waters (Southern High School) RBI single scoring Noah Deluca (Arundel High School) to make it a 2-1 game.

The Falcons would extend their lead in the bottom of the fifth to make it a 4-1 game. The Cardinals would respond in the top of the sixth thanks to a Miles Bowens (Tucker High School) homerun, making it a 4-2 game.

It would be a rough sixth and seventh innings for the Cardinals as they would end the seventh inning down 11-2. The Cardinals would continue to fight until the end, as Noah Deluca would have an RBI single in the top of the eight to score Tony D'Angeli (Atholton High School) along with adding a Wyatt Moore (West Orange High School) RBI double scoring Angelo Ramirez (North Atlanta High School), picking up his fourth RBI of the season. However, the Cardinals would drop their sixth game of the road trip, losing 11-4.

Both Angelo Ramirez and Wyatt Moore went 2-4, with Ramirez picking up a run and Moore picking up an RBI. Starter Jackson Bauer (Mt. St. Joeseph's High School) went four innings, giving up two runs while striking out four batters.

The Cardinals are now 1-6. The Cardinals kick off their regular season next at home against Sussex County Community College on Friday March 3rd at 2pm.
