Hawks Late Comeback Falls Short Against Central Penn

Still looking for their first win of the season, the College of Southern Maryland Hawks women's basketball team came out strong in the first half of their contest against the Central Penn College Knights on November 4, but ultimately fell short, losing 68-65 to drop to 0-7 overall.

Toyin Allen was the leading scorer for CSM, logging 27 points as she shot 9-15 from the field and 3-4 from beyond the arc. She also had a double-double, adding ten rebounds, four assists, three steals, and a block.

Angleen Mulero registered 18 points to go along with six steals. Lillian Reynolds provided eight rebounds, five blocks, three assists, and one steal. Jasmine Harper added eight points.

CSM held their largest lead of the game - 13 points at 38-25 - a minute into the third quarter, but their offense then came to a standstill; the Knights outscored the Hawks 29-8 the rest of the quarter to take an eight-point lead into the fourth.

The Hawks found themselves trailing 60-49, their largest deficit of the game, with seven minutes remaining in the game. But CSM did not go away easily, responding with a 16-6 run to cut it to 66-65 with a minute and a half remaining.

CSM had opportunities to take the lead or tie on their last three offensive possessions, but unfortunately, the Hawks came away empty each time and went home with the loss.
