Seahawks Extend Win Streak to 16 Games, Falko Hits 1,000 Point Milestone in Home Finale

The No. 12 ranked Cecil College men's basketball team extended their win streak to sixteen games after defeating the Riverhawks of Anne Arundel Community College 103-32 in their last home game of the season. The Seahawks remain perfect (10-0) in MD JUCO and 7-1 in NJCAA Region XX DII as they head into their final stretch of the regular season. Their remaining four games are on the road, with three out of the four being region division opponents.

The Seahawks' offense got off to a slow start in the opening minutes of the contest, trailing by as many as ten points at the 11:41 mark in the first half. After a Cecil timeout, sophomore forward George Davey sparked a 15-0 run with a made three-pointer that would regain the Seahawks' lead.

Sophomore guard Jacob Falko headed into Wednesday's game needing 17 points to reach the 1,000 point threshold in his two-year career at Cecil. He opened the contest scoring six of the Seahawks' first eight points, and throughout the half, tallied 16 points including a made layup at the buzzer to help his team to a 52-40 lead at the halftime break.

Despite allowing the Riverhawks' to score the second half's opening bucket, the Seahawks would score the next nine points ending with a converted and-one lay up and free throw by Jacob Falko to bring his career point total to 1,002 points. The contest was put on a brief pause to recognize Falko's accomplishment and present him with the game ball.

The Seahawks' offense kept their foot on the gas for the remainder of the contest, taking their largest lead of 46 points with 3:46 left to play to secure the convincing 103-62 victory.

Jacob Falko led in scoring with 24 points while tallying six rebounds, four assists, and six steals followed by freshman Justin Cohen with 18 points and six rebounds. O'Dell Dickerson contributed an additional 13 points, six rebounds, and four assists followed by Matthew Pearson with 10 points, four rebounds, and five assists. McKale Williams added eight points while Nicholas Wells, George Davey (four rebounds, three assists, two steals, one block), Seth Edwards, and Jacob Reyle each had 5+ points.

The Seahawks return to action on Saturday, February 15 when they travel to face the Hawks of Hagerstown Community College for a conference match-up. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in Hagerstown, Maryland.
