Owls Dominate NOVA in Season Opener

Prince George's Community College women's basketball had a coming out party to kick off the 2019-20 season. After a frustrating season the year prior, the Owls showed they were a new team with a dominant 102-30 rout over NOVA on Friday, November 1st.

The Owls quickly jumped out to an early 8-0 lead just over a minute into the contest and never looked back, holding onto the lead for the remainder of the game. Up 52-21 midway through, Prince George's was shooting lights out with a 49 percent success rate from the floor. The Owls consistently forced the Nighthawks to turn the ball over, creating 22 turnovers which they turned into a whopping 45 shot attempts compared to NOVA's 19. Freshman Kori People led the way for the Owls with 15 points at the break.

The Owls dominance continued in the final two quarters, allowing only nine points for the remainder of the game while piling on 25 points in each quarter as well. The Owls recorded their first 100 point game since the 2016-2017 season in the win. Eleven different players scored for the Owls with Trinity Workman recording a double-double with 23 points and eleven steals off the bench. A convincing victory to begin the season, the Owls will look to build off their impressive performance as they move forward.
