Seahawks Split Weekend Tri-Match

NORTH EAST, Md. - The Seahawks hosted Region 20 D2 foes Garrett and Howard on Saturday for a tri-match. While Cecil soared to a straight set victory against the Lakers in the opener, they suffered the same fate in their second match of the day against the Dragons.

Match One - Cecil 3, Garrett 0

The home team was under little threat in the opening and closing frames, taking both by double-digit margins. The Lakers gave Cecil a much harder time in set two, but eventually dropped it 25-17 to the Seahawks.

Freshman hitter Katarina Kuchera finished above all players with 14 kills. Fellow frosh Camryn Anzalone tallied eight kills. They were assisted primarly by Skylar Klingler (15 assists) and Rachel Mullins (eight assists).

On defense, Lily Landis and Katelyn Norman-Wilson combined to pick up 21 digs. Norman Wilson led the way with four aces, while Landis grabbed three.

Match Two - Howard 3, Cecil 0

Offensive woes hounded the Seahawks in game two, as 32 attacking errors led to a sweep in their second match of the day. Cecil also dropped 15 points on service and serve receive errors.

A returning Neelie Grauer finished with five kills. Kuchera topped the team with eight kills, while Anzalone ended the afternoon with a half-dozen of her own.

The sophomore tandem of Landis and Norman-Wilson led the defense, teaming up for 31 digs. Both players recorded three aces as well.
