
KEYSER, W.Va. – WVU Potomac State College put together a strong performance on both ends of the court, securing a 55-41 victory over the College of Southern Maryland on Saturday afternoon at Lough Gym. The Catamounts jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.
The Catamounts came out firing in the first quarter, establishing a commanding 20-11 lead behind efficient scoring. While the second quarter saw a more even battle (11-11), Potomac State maintained control at halftime with a 31-22 advantage. A strong third-quarter surge (15-7) helped solidify the lead before closing out the contest despite a late push from the visitors.
Standout Performers
- Hannah Ault led the scoring charge with 13 points, knocking down all five of her free throws, while also contributing four rebounds and two assists.
- Elizabeth Pryor dominated the glass with 11 rebounds, adding 12 points to notch a double-double.
- Ericka Zirk provided solid production, finishing with 7 points, 4 rebounds, and a block.
- Amber Bing gave the Catamounts a spark off the bench, tallying 7 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists.
- Bailey Evans made the most of her 12 minutes on the floor, contributing 5 points and 5 rebounds.
Defensively, the Catamounts held Southern Maryland to 24.1% shooting from the field, including just 11.8% from three-point range. Their defensive intensity forced 24 turnovers, disrupting the rhythm of the visiting team throughout the game.
With the victory, WVU Potomac State improves to 11-7 overall. They return to Lough gym to face Hagerstown Community College on Wednesday night.
