Lions defeat Cougars 87-72

Your #3 CCBC Dundalk Lions have defeated the #6 Frederick Community College Cougars 87-72 in the first round of playoffs here at The Den.

The teams were getting a feel for the game for the first ten minutes and it wasn't until the Lions went on a 16-5 run the game opened up and the Lions took a ten point lead up 30-20. Frederick made a jump shot out of a timeout with under 8 minutes left to cut the lead to six, 32-26. The Lions would then go on a 17-3 run which extended the Lions lead to 20, up 49-29 with 3 minutes left. The Lions would head into halftime up 49-34

The Lions lead would reach 21 points with 15 minutes left to go in the game up 63-42. The Lions would have three players foul out in the end which caused some uneasiness but the time was on their side as they win 87-72 

Charles Neverdon led the Lions with 30 points and 7 assists

Divine Jones led the Lions with 9 rebounds off the bench

Xavier Barrow had 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists

Hussain Williams had 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists

The Lions will advance to the NJCAA Region 20 semifinals versus CCBC Catonsville on Friday March 8th at Cecil College
