Potomac Wears Down Wolfpack

YOUNGWOOD, Pa. - Playing their second game in two days and third in three days, the Westmoreland County Community College men's basketball team stayed with visiting Potomac State for part of the first half, but the Catamounts used a big run to take control and pulled away for a 119-66 win Monday night.

Potomac seemed to be pulling away through the first half, holding a 29-18 lead at the midway point. But the Wolfpack chipped away over the next few minutes, going on a 13-5 spurt, capped off by a three-pointer by Joel Lonigro that forced a Catamount timeout after their lead had been sliced to 34-28 with six minutes left in the half.

After the timeout, Potomac was a different team, erupting for a 30-3 run to close the half and take a 64-31 lead into the break and continue on to the win.

Leading the Wolfpack efforts was Dan McQuaide, who notched his first double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Lonigro scored 14 in the setback and Jake Biros knocked down four three-pointers to finish with an even dozen points.

Westmoreland returns to WPCC play Saturday with a 3 pm road contest at Pitt-Titusville in the first meeting of the season between the programs.
